Easyjet opens maintenance hangar at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport

The low-cost airline Easyjet has officially opened a new maintenance hangar on the grounds of Berlin-Brandenburg Airport. The carrier has had a base in the German capital since 2004.

According to their own statements, they are investing around 20 million euros in the location. The machines of the Austrian Easyjet Europe are to be serviced on site in the future. Its fleet currently consists of 135 commercial aircraft. In recent months, Easyjet the offer from the BER is noticeably reduced.

The Easyjet hangar was built in the maintenance area of ​​Berlin-Brandenburg Airport, south-west of Terminal 1. Construction work started in September 2021. With a total area of ​​11.500 square meters, the hangar itself covers an area of ​​10.000 square meters and offers space for work on four aircraft up to the size of the Airbus A321neo at the same time. The carrier has also further expanded the on-site team at the maintenance station, which has been in place since 2020, so that in the future more than 100 employees will be on site responsible for the oversight and management of all aircraft maintenance activities and additional jobs for maintenance engineers and technical staff in the region be created.
