Easyjet remains deep in the red

Advertising

Low-cost airline Easyjet has closed the second quarter of the current financial year, which ended at the end of June 2022, with a loss of £114m before taxes and exceptional items. It is striking that 133 million pounds had to be spent on operational failures and flight cancellations alone.

In the same period last year, which was characterized by significantly lower demand, the shortfall was £318 million. Easyjet's management is confident that by the end of September 2022 the offer can be expanded to 90 percent of the pre-crisis level. It is currently around 87 percent.

Sales improved to around £1,8 billion. There were 22 million passengers on board, a seven-fold increase compared to the same period last year. However, the offer had to be significantly reduced in several steps. For example, one has in Berlin-Brandenburg, London-Gatwick and Amsterdam canceled many flights. A lack of staff was given as the reason for each.
