Edelweiss and Eurowings Discover will have a joint CEO: Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss since 2014, will take over the post of CEO of Eurowings Discover in Germany on October 1, 2022 in addition to his previous position. Both companies will remain independent in the future.
Edelweiss has extensive and decades-long experience in the tourism sector. It is the leading Swiss holiday airline. According to the carrier, the structure of Eurowings Discover was designed in Germany based on its model. Together with the management teams in Zurich at Edelweiss and in Frankfurt at Eurowings Discover, Bernd Bauer will further accelerate the expansion of the Lufthansa Group's offering in the tourist segment.
At Edelweiss, David Birrer will remain Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Accountable Manager and Patrick Heymann will remain Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of the company. At Eurowings Discover, Wolfgang Raebiger will in future concentrate on the role of COO and Accountable Manager, while Helmut Wölfel remains CCO.
Edelweiss and Eurowings Discover focus on tourist destinations on short, medium and long-haul routes. They thus supplement the range of services offered by the network airlines. Edelweiss flies from Zurich, Eurowings Discover from Frankfurt and Munich. Both companies will remain independent in the future and will continue to operate under their well-known names in their respective markets.
