The holiday airline Edelweiss Air carried out the first flight from Zurich-Kloten to Liberia (Costa Rica) on Sunday. A traditional ribbon cutting took place on this occasion.

“I am delighted to be back at Zurich Airport for a maiden flight. With Liberia, we have already added the second destination in Costa Rica to our program. Our guests will appreciate that in the future they will be able to fly with us directly to Costa Rica's popular Pacific coast. Like all other bookable destinations, vaccinated passengers can travel to Costa Rica quarantine-free ”, says Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss.

Liberia is offered from Zurich on the Sunday traffic day. There is a stopover in San José. In the current winter timetable period 2021/22, the carrier has around 50 destinations in 29 countries on offer. Edelweiss declares that the productivity of the fleet will return to the level of 2019 over the next few months.

Between Christmas and New Year the following routes will be extended:

  • Iceland: Reykjavik / Keflavik
  • Italy: Cagliari (Sardinia), Catania (Sicily), Lamezia (Calabria)
  • Cape Verde: Sal
  • Kosovo: Pristina
  • North Macedonia: Ohrid, Skopje
  • Portugal: Faro, Funchal (Madeira)
  • Scotland: Edinburgh
  • Spain: Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Santiago de Compostela, Tenerife
