The current Corona entry regulation of the Federal Republic of Germany expires at the end of August 2022. The cabinet has now decided that the regulations will be extended until at least September 30, 2022. In concrete terms, this means that no 3G proof is required for entry.
In principle, Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD) could tighten the entry requirements at any time by putting areas and/or states on the list of virus variant areas. However, there is currently no entry on the "red list".
At the end of May 2022, Germany drastically relaxed the entry rules and dropped the 3G obligation that had been in place until then. In many federal states there were never any systematic controls, because the presence of entry registration and/or 3G documents was checked at best on a random basis.
Health Minister Karl Lauterbach does not want to explicitly rule out the possibility of tough corona entry regulations coming again. He believes that one must keep an eye on "particularly dangerous virus variants" and then react accordingly to "prevent them from spreading quickly". The government member did not make a forecast for a possible regulation from October 1, 2022.
