Brexit, the corona pandemic and the need to manually control a concentrated load of bureaucracy are currently leading to waiting times of up to six hours when entering Heathrow Airport. The number of passengers is extremely manageable, which is why Airport Manager Emma Gilthorpe is seriously concerned.

Before the interior committee of the parliament, the manager insisted that the government should use more officials for the controls. She pointed out that often only a few counters are occupied and that passengers sometimes have to wait between three and six hours for their entry. In times of Corona this sounds almost unbelievable.

If you consider that Heathrow currently only has around ten percent of the usual traffic, the long waiting times from the airport management's point of view are tantamount to a prank. Gilthorpe also warned that passengers could use other airports for entry in the future, as word of the situation would get around and no one would want to wait that long for entry in times of Corona.
