Portugal abolished the entry restrictions just in time for the holiday season: Since July 1, holidaymakers who travel to the south-west European country by plane no longer have to present a negative corona test or proof of vaccination.
The obligation to check the 3G rule will be suspended for airlines, as Check24 reports. So far, the popular holiday country had kept the corona proof for people entering by air, but they were no longer required for the land border with Spain since mid-May. The flower island of Madeira, which belongs to Portugal, also allows entry without a corona certificate, but the Azores archipelago still requires proof according to the 3G principle. The Portuguese authorities justify the easing with the stable epidemiological situation and the high vaccination rate. The number of cases in the country has been falling for several weeks, with a seven-day incidence of 1 as of July 608st.
