In the USA, on March 9, 2021, a particularly persistent mask refuser said he was expressing his displeasure by standing on the seat and urinating on the seat in front of passengers and cabin crew. The man was taken away by the executive and is now facing a hefty sentence, which can include up to 20 years imprisonment due to the strict aviation law.
The incident occurred on March 9, 2021 on an Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle to Denver. It all started with the 24-year-old man repeatedly refusing to put on a mask. In the first stage of escalation, the man hit a flight attendant on the arm, according to a Colorado District Court statement. Previously, he should have ignored ten requests.
While the stewardess concerned was discussing how to proceed with her colleagues, other passengers were already sounding the alarm. The 24-year-old is said to have stood on his seat and urinated unabashedly on it. With that the proverbial barrel was finally full, because after landing in Denver the man was taken away by the executive. A first hearing by a federal court took place on Friday.
Pilots struggled with technical error messages
The cockpit couldn't really deal with what was happening in the cabin because another problem arose on flight AS1474. An unspecified technical problem led the pilots to prepare an emergency landing in Denver. Ultimately, however, it was possible to land normally and safely. With the exception of the troublemaker, who was taken away, all travelers and crew members were able to safely exit the aircraft. The Boeing 737-900ER with the registration N237AK was used.
“The safety of our guests and our crew is our top priority. We do not tolerate interference on board our aircraft or at any of the airports we serve. We appreciate the efforts of our dedicated teams, who work every day to ensure that travel is safe and respectful, ”Alaska Airlines said when asked.
