The airline El Al was able to agree with its pilots that salaries will be increased back to the level paid before the corona pandemic by early 2023. The company cut wages during the crisis because it was impossible to fly at all for a long period of time.
The agreement was reached with the Histadrut union. Prior to this, there had been disputes and isolated work stoppages for several weeks, which led to numerous cancellations. The airline and employee representatives announced that wages are now to be gradually increased again and will reach the pre-crisis level in January 2023.
“Israeli airlines pilots, including El Al pilots, cut their salaries significantly to allow the airlines to survive. Now that the airline industry is recovering, it is time to return to the previous situation," said union leader Avi Edri.
