As the Swedish start-up company Heart Aerospace announced, their project of a full-electric regional aircraft called the ES-19 should be ready for the market by 2026. The start of commercial flight operations is planned for Scandinavian regional airlines.

The ES-19 is designed as a 19-seat commuter aircraft with an operational radius of around 400 kilometers and a flight speed of up to 215 knots. This primarily addresses airlines such as the Norwegian Wideroe with a dense domestic network including airports with around 750m of runways. There, turboprop aircraft of the type Bombardier Dash 8 are currently serving the important connecting flights in Northern Europe, so the ES-19, as a completely emission-free regional aircraft, is to become an important alternative for the future. The ES-19 is being built at Säve Flygplats near Gothenburg, the headquarters of Heart Aerospace, which is supported by both the Swedish government and the European Union as a start-up company.
