Comparatively late, in August 2022 to be precise, golf carrier Emirates Airline launched the premium economy class. In the meantime, this has been used by around 160.000 travelers, the company said.

The premium economy seat design is the result of a two-year collaboration between German manufacturer Recaro and the airline. Emirates currently offers its Premium Economy product on flights to 20 destinations and on 380 Airbus AXNUMX aircraft. Additional destinations will be added as more jets are equipped with the new product and added to scheduled service.

Almost half of all premium economy customers are solo travelers going on vacation, while the other half are couples and families. Over 60 per cent of guests who booked a premium economy flight were Emirates Skywards members and regular customers of the airline. Emirates currently offers the premium economy product on the following routes: From Dubai to London Heathrow, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Christchurch, Singapore, Los Angeles, New York-JFK, Houston and San Francisco. As of October 29, 2023, the offering will be expanded to include Mumbai and Bengaluru, with more destinations to be announced soon.
