Emirates Sky Cargo has transported over 400 million kilos of pharmaceuticals in five years.
Five years ago, in September 2016, Emirates Sky Cargo opened its GDP-certified pharmaceutical handling facility at Dubai International Airport and at the same time presented its three-tier specialty product - Emirates Pharma. “At Emirates SkyCargo, we recognized very early on that our customers were looking for ever more specialized solutions for their freight. This applies in particular to valuable and life-saving drugs that have to be transported under strict conditions. After extensive planning and significant investments in our infrastructure, processes and employees, we introduced our 2016-degree transport solution with a state-of-the-art GDP-certified handling system in Dubai for our pharmaceutical customers in September 360, ”explains Nabil Sultan, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Cargo .
The market reaction has been consistently positive. “It was very quickly possible for us to change the perception that Dubai is a destination to be avoided for pharmaceutical freight in the summer to the fact that Dubai is a reliable hub for pharmaceutical customers all year round. Our pharmaceutical volume has continued to grow over the years, and to date we have transported more than 400 million kilos of pharmaceutical cargo under the umbrella of Emirates Pharma, ”continued Nabil Sultan.
Hub Dubai: At its hub in Dubai, the cargo airline has over 20.000 square meters of GDP-compliant warehouse and transshipment space, which handles almost 200.000 kilos (200 tons) of pharmaceuticals every day, including vaccines, biologics, and drugs for diseases such as cancer and diabetes.
