The Austrian cable car companies are under financial pressure due to the corona pandemic and the fact that they had to be closed again and again, but also because of the sometimes complicated entry and quarantine regulations. Things are said to have been quite different on the Riesneralm, because this ski area has managed to record record sales.

According to their own information, the Riesneralm was able to earn eight percent more, contrary to the general trend, and thus recorded a record season from a financial point of view. Around five million euros were invested in our own snow-making equipment, so that the entire valley area can now also be supplied with artificial snow. This means that spring skiing can also be safely positioned in terms of tourism in the future and guests and accommodation providers can be offered a targeted extension of the season until mid-April.

When asked how this result came about, Managing Director Erwin Petzer explains, “that many pieces of the puzzle interlock here. One of them is due to the 2020/21 season, where we were able to present our business cards to the guests despite corona-related restrictions. The unrestricted operation from the first to the last day has attracted many new customers who discovered the Riesneralm and then came to appreciate and love it. This year they have returned, so to speak, to their new insider tip. But the investments that have brought about a completely new quality of slopes in the valley area or on the newly developed Europacup slope are also part of this puzzle. In the last decade alone, 22 million euros have been invested from our own resources and have always allowed the development curve to climb upwards.”
