Last week the airline Delta took delivery of the first fully assembled Airbus A220-300 in the United States of America. The regional jet was manufactured on the Mobile (Alabama) production line.

"The delivery of the first US-built A220-300 is a historic moment that underscores Airbus' growing industrial footprint in North America and makes us all extremely proud," said C. Jeffrey Knittel, Chairman and CEO of Airbus Americas, Inc.

To date, approximately 400 US employees have been trained in A220 production - some in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada, where the A220 program and primary final assembly line are located. A year ago, the first US-based A220 production team, made up of seasoned and new team members, began assembling the A220 in Mobile.

Delta Air Lines is currently the largest A220 customer with a total of 95 A220 aircraft on order and will be the first A220 operator in America to operate both A220-100 and A220-300 aircraft types.

Strictly speaking, Airbus handed over two A220 / 300 to Delta on two consecutive days.
The Airbus aircraft of the A220 series are not regional aircraft as it is written in the text, but adult SA fliers, you don't talk about a regional aircraft when talking about a DC9, MD80 jet, do you?
They are roughly the same size, but you can also go on transatlantic routes with the A220, which has already been proven to start from the Short Runway in London with an A220 / 100 from London City to New York with a full load.
From next year there will also be an A220 / 300LR, the range increase required by Moxy to 7400km, should enable flights across the Atlantic and to Sao Paulo from the east coast of the USA.
A regional aircraft is definitely something different, like a Bombardier CRJ, Das8, Embraer aircraft, ATR, Saab, Fokker and whatever they are called, regional aircraft are only used once for reconnaissance.
