On Tuesday, a train coming from Brno in the Czech Republic rolled into Vienna Airport station for the first time. For the time being it is a one-off show event of politics, because on board was a delegation from Brno, which was received by Vienna's Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ).

“I am pleased that this train came directly from Brno to Vienna Airport. First of all as a "one-time experience". But we all hope that there will soon be a regular connection," says Ludwig.

It is currently not foreseeable when regular train connections between Brno and Vienna International Airport will be offered. Local politicians are pursuing this goal with high pressure and point out that the travel time by road is comparatively long. “In the future, a travel time from Vienna to Berlin – via Brno – of four hours is planned. A planned connection from Brno to the airport fits in very well,” said Ludwig.
