The war in Ukraine saw the first officially confirmed civilian "aircraft casualty" in the Antonov An-74T, registration UR-74010. The transport plane, which was parked near Kiev, was destroyed during an attack by Russian forces.

The now rare cargo plane was hit by Russian weapons and was completely destroyed. There is official confirmation of this from both countries involved in the war.

Civilian personnel from Operator Antonov Airlines were not harmed as a result of the destruction of the UR-74010. The workers are said to have gotten to safety as far as this is possible due to the Russian army's attack on Ukraine. At Linz-Hörsching Airport, the crews of two An-124 draw attention to the fate of their homeland and appeal to the world that the war must end immediately.
