Due to the corona pandemic, Ethiopian Mozambique Airlines must cease flight operations with effect from May 6, 2021. The carrier did not give a specific date for a possible resumption. In a statement, the unclear situation is given as a reason.

The airline concerned is a joint venture between Ethiopian Airlines and Malawi Airlines. Originally eight domestic destinations as well as destinations abroad were headed for. In the end only a DHC Dash 8-400 was used. According to CH-Aviation.com, this was the ET-AXP, which was operated by the parent company as part of a wetlease agreement.

In the African country, LAM - Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique is now the only airline that still offers regular scheduled flights. This carrier is wholly owned by Mozambique. Ethiopian Airlines itself and the other holdings are not affected by the temporary suspension in Mozambique.
