It took a long time, but now Etihad Airways is commercially in the air with the Airbus A350-1000 machine type. The first flight was operated between Abu Dhabi and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
In the coming weeks and months, the carrier will expand the sub-fleet to a total of five aircraft. The A6-XWB is the first Airbus A350-1000 that Etihad Airways has put into active scheduled service.
The Gulf carrier had previously accepted this long-haul model, but had not put the aircraft into service. These were parked in France for a longer period of time. It was only much later that these machines were started to transfer to Abu Dhabi. Now, with the A6-XWB, at least one unit is in active scheduled service.
