Etihad: The days of the 777-300ER fleet seem numbered

Etihad Airways quietly but surely announces the farewell to the Boeing 777-300ER fleet. The golf carrier's 19 Triple Seven could follow the Airbus A380 by the end of the year.

Etihad boss Tony Douglas made this unmistakably clear at an online event. The airline from the United Arab Emirates is thus pushing the pace with the simplification of the fleet. Some time ago, Etihad put ten Airbus A380s on hold for an indefinite period of time. The comeback of the double-decker has also been a long way off since it was deleted from the official fleet overview.

The airline's Boeing 777-300ERs now suffer the same fate. The company is focussing on a business model "that is very much built around the 787 Dreamliner and A350-1000". The aviation portal reports Swiss Aviation. This is also necessary, among other things, to bring the business figures back out of the red low.

The 19 aircraft were delivered to the airline between 2006 and 2014. They have an average age of only 10,4 years. Six aircraft were already returned to the lessor Jet Airways in 2016

    Dear author of the comment,

thank you for reading our articles so carefully.

The featured image is actually not a triple seven. Regarding this, we unfortunately did not have a copy of it in the database yesterday, so I have temporarily selected (had to select) this picture.

Since today, however, we can draw on the full, because we have been able to contractually agree with our partner company on this. This provides us with all the images from its huge database for our articles.

This means that such “emergency solutions” are now a thing of the past.

    With kind regards,

    Granite Pireci

PS: I changed the featured image accordingly.
