Etihad Airways is withdrawing from the package tour business. Etihad Holidays will be sold to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company and integrated into Tourism 365, announced the two companies.
For Etihad Airways, the foray into the package tour business segment was not exactly crowned with success. Over the years the company accumulated high losses and now draws a line under it in order to be able to concentrate on the passenger and freight business.
The new buyer will develop the existing Etihad Holidays platform into a tour operator that also has other airlines and destinations in its portfolio. The main partner, however, is to remain the airline Etihad Airways. The future core destinations will be the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, the Seychelles and the Maldives.
