Shortly before Christmas Eve, the EU Commission gave the green light for the state aid intended for Aegean Airlines. The Greek government announced a direct grant of 120 million euros.

It is to be assumed that another registration will take place shortly, because it is formally a compensation for the period from March 23 to June 30, 2020. Greece will compensate Aegean Airlines for financial damage that has arisen due to the entry and quarantine regulations . The carrier and the subsidiary Olympic Air can currently enjoy stable business in domestic traffic, but the international routes are weakening considerably. The government tightened the entry regulations only a few weeks ago, which quickly had a negative impact on demand.
