Flights between the European Union and Armenia, Tunisia, Qatar and Ukraine could literally sprout like mushrooms in the future, because the respective states have agreed on Openskies agreements with the EU Commission.

This means that it is possible to fly between the European Union and the aforementioned states - and vice versa - from any point. Furthermore, this also opens up possibilities within the framework of the so-called Fifth Freedom. These are stopovers at which passengers are allowed to get on and off.

According to the EU Commission, the named states have committed to complying with the security standards of the European Union. Before the agreement comes into force, it has to be ratified by the governments of the 27 EU member states. This step is expected around autumn 2021.
