In the course of the coronavirus pandemic, the European Union wants to avoid border closings in the future.

Nationwide measures due to the increasing number of infections - such as travel warnings or even border closings - should continue to be dispensed with. This would only be at the expense of the tourism industry. And this is already weakened. Instead, the focus should be on the regional level. In addition, they are calling for closer coordination on travel warnings, Covid-19 tests and quarantine regulations.

In addition, business trips are to be promoted by eliminating quarantine regulations after negative rapid tests. Rapid tests are therefore an important component in order to get back to normal, like the news medium ORF reports. "Our goal is to limit travel restrictions to the necessary degree and to allow people in Europe as much freedom to travel as possible without neglecting health protection," said the EU tourism ministers.
