Since Wednesday, the European Court of Justice has been hearing about the aid that the state of Rhineland-Palatinate has transferred to the Frankfurt-Hahn regional airport. However, a verdict is not expected for a few months.

In a way, the outcome of the C-466/21P procedure could only have symbolic meaning, because the operating company to which the subsidies went is in insolvency proceedings. This should make it difficult for the country to reclaim the grants. The buyer of assets to be transferred to a new company had until recently did not transfer the purchase price.
