The European Union and Armenia have signed an air transport agreement. In future, this will replace the individual treaties that were concluded by the member states with the ex-Soviet republic.

The aim is to give airlines better access to the market on both sides. Even in the run-up to the signing of the contract, European carriers expanded their connections to Yerevan. Many providers have discovered the destination for themselves. It is therefore to be expected that numerous new admissions will follow in the next few months.

The new agreement also means that Armenia will make some changes. The standards in the areas of safety, regulation, the environment and traffic management will be brought into line with those of the European Union in several phases.
