The German trade union Verdi and Eurowings were able to agree that around 130 flight attendants who are threatened with dismissal within the group should stay at Eurowings. Further hires are planned when demand picks up again.

If the employees so wish, the change of employer can take place at the beginning of the summer flight schedule period 2021. For the time being, however, Eurowings will accept a maximum of 130 flight attendants. For Verdi, it was decisive that the previous professional career (“seniority”) is recognized.

As a result, a flight attendant who has previously flown with another group airline - for example Germanwings, Cityline or Lufthansa - will be credited for their previous work as if they had previously flown with Eurowings. This results in an equivalent classification in the collective agreement. Furthermore, there is no trial period and the recruitment process is to be simplified. The agreement between Eurowings and Verdi is initially valid until June 30, 2022.
