The Airbus A330-200, registration D-AXGB, operated by Eurowings Discover, completed an extremely hard landing at Windhoek Airport on 18 February 2023. The incident is being investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Namibia.

The long-haul aircraft was en route from Frankfurt am Main to Windhoek as 4Y142. The flight went without any special features. The Airbus A330-200 touched down hard on landing. This meant that the machine had to undergo a technical inspection.

A company spokeswoman emphasizes that the D-AXGB landed safely and that there was never a safety risk for passengers or crew. As a precaution, the machine was subjected to a technical inspection. A standard procedure that applies.

There is no confirmed information about the extent of the damage. However, local media reports that this Airbus A330-200 is in need of repairs. In the meantime, a maintenance team has made its way from Frankfurt am Main to Windhoek. The D-AXGB has not been used commercially since the hard landing in Windhoek.
