In view of the long waiting times at the check-in desks at German airports and the fact that security checks can take longer in many places, the so-called evening check-in could be interesting for many travelers who have luggage with them. For example, Eurowings Discover offers this free of charge in Frankfurt and Munich.

In concrete terms, this means that you can hand in your luggage at the counter the evening before departure and receive your boarding pass for the flight the following day. You can then go straight through security to the gate on the day of departure. The suitcases are then handed out on the conveyor belt at the destination airport.

Eurowings Discover recommends that passengers take advantage of the option during the summer months, when demand is expected to be particularly strong. This airline does not incur any additional costs for using the night-before check-in, a spokeswoman confirmed to Aviation.Direct on request.

“Evening check-in is open from 17 p.m. to 20 p.m. for all guests whose flights depart by 14 p.m. the following day and is located in Frankfurt and Munich next to the regular Eurowings Discover check-in counters. Travelers who check-in the night before can enjoy the preferred and free benefit of the so-called more legroom seats, which are offered on short and medium-haul routes as well as on all long-haul flights, depending on availability. Eurowings Discover currently recommends that all guests who do not use the check-in the night before plan significantly more time than the usual at least two hours before departure for check-in and the way to the departure gate," says a spokeswoman.
