Graz Airport is now officially a base for Maltese Eurowings Europe. The Airbus A319 with the registration 9H-EXQ serves some routes from Styria. After Salzburg, this is the second base at an Austrian provincial airport.

"We are very pleased that we are further expanding our presence at Graz Airport by stationing an aircraft and are bringing more Eurowings to Styria," explains Eurowings Europe Managing Director Stefan Beveridge. "Our expansion is based on a strong partnership with Graz Airport and TUI Austria and is a clear commitment to Graz as an air traffic location and the entire region."

The aircraft with the registration "9H-EXQ" was ceremoniously greeted this morning with a water fountain by the airport fire brigade and received on the apron by airport boss Wolfgang Grimus together with Eurowings Europe Managing Director Stefan Beveridge and representatives from politics and tourism. The fully booked flight EW4516 then took off at 11:10 a.m. from Graz towards the Egyptian sun for Hurghada.

"With this impressive expansion, Eurowings will become one of our most important location partners," explains Wolfgang Grimus, Managing Director of Graz Airport. “With the eleven destinations, including four new ones, Eurowings optimally covers the needs of the Styrian economy and industry and offers holiday travelers an attractive route portfolio. We hope that today's deployment is a prelude to further expansion in the future.

Eurowings is significantly expanding its presence at Graz Airport and is expanding the range of attractive direct flight destinations from summer 2023. With Chania (Crete) and Larnaca, new destinations for Graz, as well as Hurghada, Karpathos, Corfu, Kos and Rhodes, seven destinations in the popular holiday destinations of Greece, Egypt and Cyprus are on the program. The holiday island of Mallorca is also served up to three times a week from Graz. In addition, the 2023/24 winter timetable from Graz has already been partially published. Eurowings also offers two weekly connections from Graz to Hurghada in the winter months. It also goes to the Canary Islands – twice a week to Gran Canaria and once a week to Tenerife. There are also city connections to Germany, which will be added to the winter flight program in the coming weeks.

Stuttgart was discontinued from May, MUC was reduced from five to one flight, constant cancellations on the FRA route, chaos with rebooking because there are no staff of their own and then the airport managers are surprised when the PAX to VIE, LJU and BUD dodge, especially since the long-distance routes of the LH Group from BUD are sometimes hundreds of euros cheaper than from GRZ.
