The airline Eurowings has introduced a new direct connection between Hamburg and Rovaniemi in Finland shortly before Christmas 2024. As Hamburg Airport announced, the route will be served once a week, every Sunday. Rovaniemi, known as the home of Santa Claus, attracts both tourists and business travelers.

From January 12, 2025, Eurowings will be adding another connection to Finland: Kittilä. This route will be served twice a week and will provide travelers from Germany with convenient access to the Lapland region, a popular destination for winter sports and recreation.

The Lufthansa subsidiary is thus further expanding its offering in northern Europe and responding to the growing demand for seasonal travel destinations. With the new connections, Hamburg Airport is strengthening its position as a hub for travel to the far north.
