The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings is introducing a new service called “Flex Light” on October 26, 2023 for passengers who book online via their customer account. This allows for a one-time, fee-free rebooking up to 40 minutes before departure.

This option is already included in the Smart and Bizclass tariffs. In the other tariff classes, this can be booked for a fee. With this, Eurowings is at least partially canceling the fee-free rebookings that were introduced at the beginning of the corona pandemic. This is only possible with the Smart and Bizclass tariff at no extra charge.

However, it should be noted that rebooking free of charge only means that there is no processing fee for the change. If the new flight is more expensive, the fare difference must be paid up. With a few exceptions, there is no return if the new flight is cheaper.

“We understand that travel plans can change, be it for personal or business reasons,” said Michael Erfert, Head of Sales & Distribution at Eurowings and Managing Director of Eurowings Digital. “With our fee-free rebooking option in the myEurowings account, we want to continue to ensure that our passengers have the flexibility they want, even beyond the Corona pandemic. This means they can plan and organize their trips stress-free – and easily adjust them if necessary.”

If you don’t want to get a myEurowings account, you can add “Flex Light” for ten euros when booking your flight. Anyone who wants to forego this service and still has to rebook will benefit from a lower rebooking fee in the future: Eurowings is reducing it from the previous 70 euros to 50 euros per rebooking. The introduction of “Flex Light” will take place on October 26, 2023. Nothing will change for customers who booked their flights before October 26, 2023, or for business customers who participate in the EW4Business corporate program - the respective terms and conditions apply at the time the flight booking or the conclusion of the contract.
