Eurowings intends to refrain from accepting cash and bus boarding in the future. At the airport, passengers will generally have to scan their boarding cards themselves in future.

The Lufthansa low-cost subsidiary Eurowings will only use boarding via passenger boarding bridges within Germany if possible. This is to ensure that the distance rules can be adhered to more easily. According to the airline, this can only be implemented to a limited extent with bus boarding.

The carrier also presented important points for safe travel in times of Corona. Eurowings points out that check-in can take place via smartphone or PC before arriving at the airport. This eliminates the need to go to the counter. The company writes about the mask requirement: “Eurowings asks its passengers to bring mouth and nose protection to all flights and to wear it both at the airport and on board. Eurowings flight attendants also wear appropriate protection in direct customer contact. In this way, we jointly ensure that safe travel remains possible even in times of Corona. Eurowings is thus based on the official regulations of numerous European countries in which wearing mouth and nose protection in public is now mandatory. The previous regulation to keep the neighboring seat free is no longer applicable. Nevertheless, seats are allocated as widely as possible across the cabin. "

Boarding should take place in groups. The ground staff should ensure that a safety distance of at least 1,5 meters is maintained. The boarding passes must generally be placed on the scanner by the passengers themselves. Among other things, cash will no longer be accepted on board. Further rules for the crews: “Before and during the flight and on the ground during transit times, contact between crew members and with the ground staff is minimized in order to maintain the safety distance as much as possible. Most of the communication between the cockpit and the ground takes place via headset, while the interphone is used as the main communication channel within the crew. The entire crew ensures that their hands are regularly disinfected. In addition, both on-board sales and on-board service are reduced. This largely avoids hand contact. Payment on board is cashless. "

Regarding cleaning and disinfection, the company writes: “When cleaning the aircraft, Eurowings implements extensive measures: every aircraft is disinfected when it stops at the home base. In the cabin, this includes the luggage compartments, armrests, seat belts and buckles as well as tables. The toilet bowl and seat, wash basin, mixer tap, mirror and door handle are cleaned in the washrooms. All work surfaces and sinks in the aircraft kitchen are also disinfected. "
