Taiwanese airline Eva Air has finalized an order for 18 Airbus A350-1000s and 15 A321neos. The European aircraft manufacturer has thus won the race for this order.

The carrier previously fluctuated between models from Airbus and Boeing. Ultimately it was decided to order from the Europeans. In November 2023 it was announced that a corresponding declaration of intent had been signed. This has now been developed into a fixed order.

The long-haul machines are intended to replace some older models, but also be used for expansion. The medium-haul jets will primarily be used in the so-called regional network. From Airbus' perspective, the firm order is an important milestone because Eva Air is considered a loyal Boeing customer in this segment and only reordered a few B787s last year.

“We chose Airbus aircraft after thoroughly examining the different models in each market segment. In both size categories we have chosen the most modern and fuel-efficient types that offer the highest level of passenger comfort. The aircraft also contribute to a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, which is in line with our company’s sustainability goals,” explains Eva Air boss Clay Sun.
