On Monday, March 27, 2023, the EVG and Verdi unions are planning to largely paralyze public transport, including aviation, in Germany. Warning strikes are being called at numerous airports, train and bus companies and municipal transport companies.

In addition, there is already a strike at Munich Airport on Sunday. The largest airport in Bavaria assumes that there will be no regular flight operations on both days. Frankfurt and Hamburg also point out that normal operations cannot take place on Monday.

Due to the fact that a warning strike is being called at a large number of airports as well as in public transport, long-distance rail transport and other transport companies, significant restrictions in travel within, to and from Germany are to be expected. Those affected should therefore regularly inform themselves about any alternatives.

The action taken by the employee representatives has been sharply criticized by industry associations and Deutsche Bahn AG. The last time there was a comparable strike was 30 years ago, but at the time it was a regular industrial action and not just a “warning strike”.
