Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines has decided to order six more Airbus A350-900s. These are to be delivered this year and in 2023. These are delivery slots originally intended for Aeroflot.

Due to the sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation as a result of the military attack on Ukraine, Airbus is no longer allowed to serve Aeroflot's orders. Therefore, one is looking for alternative customers. At least six Airbus A350-900s were found with Turkish Airlines.

The carrier's decision is remarkable in this respect, because it was not until January 2022 that an existing order for this type of machine was reduced. Only a few months later, people obviously changed their mind and decided to go for the relatively short-term available Aeroflot delivery slots.
