FACC was able to secure its first project in its new “Space” business area. The Austrian company received an order from the Ariane Group to develop and manufacture the “Astris Kick-Stage Main Structure” for the Ariane 6 family of launch vehicles.

With the order to participate in the Ariane 6 rocket, the Ariane Group placed their trust in us as a development and manufacturing partner to help shape the new generation of European launch vehicles. For us, “space” is an important future topic that we have defined as a new business area in our corporate strategy 2030, ”said Robert Machtlinger, FACC boss, happily about the first order for European space travel. The “Kick-Stage Main Structure”, which FACC will develop and produce, is the supporting structure of an additional optional stage of Ariane 6 and is intended to expand its mission options. Thanks to the new technology, the rocket should be even more versatile and usable on longer missions and bring payloads of all kinds into an optimized orbit.

The first delivery is scheduled to arrive in Bremen in October 2022. There the kick stage will be subjected to further tests for its possible first use.
