FACC can celebrate a milestone in the field of long-haul aircraft: The aerospace group recently handed over the 1000th A350 engine cowling equipment to its customer Collins Aerospace.
Since the start of the project in 2010, FACC has invested around 50 million euros in the development and manufacture of the components, on the one hand to be able to offer Airbus a thrust reverser housing that is as weight-saving and therefore fuel-efficient as possible and, on the other hand, to align the production line with the highest level of efficiency and ergonomics. A good 50 employees are currently working on the program. “The long-haul aircraft segment is developing somewhat more slowly than that of the short and medium-haul aircraft. We assume, however, that with the gradual removal of the restrictions in transcontinental travel, the demand for A350 aircraft will continue to rise, ”said CEO Robert Machtlinger.
The aerospace supplier is feeling increasing demand as the aerospace industry continues to recover. According to FACC, air traffic to China has increased sharply in the last six months and is only 15 percent below the record level of 2019. The demand for new short and medium-haul aircraft will increase by 4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2021.
