The Upper Austrian aircraft parts manufacturer FACC benefited from a recovery in the aviation industry in the first quarter of 2022.
Sales climbed to 127,5 million euros, which corresponds to an increase of 7,9 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The EBIT (operating result) was 3,0 million euros in the same period. For the year as a whole, sales are expected to increase by ten percent, and the aviation supplier wants to more than triple its EBIT compared to 2021.
The company explained the positive development this year in a press release with a good order situation for short and medium-haul aircraft. The market for business jets, which accounts for around 17 percent of FACC's sales, had already reached the pre-crisis level by the end of 2021. The reason for the good order situation now is a further recovery in the aviation industry after the pandemic, especially in continental air traffic in the USA and the Middle East. In 2021 as a whole, a lost legal dispute with a supplier resulted in a negative operating result.
The war in Ukraine hardly had a negative impact on the aircraft supplier's business because the company had no supply chains there or in Russia. The annual supply volume for civil aviation in Russia is around 1 million euros. According to the information, the outlook remains unchanged: the aircraft parts manufacturer wants to increase its sales by 10 percent for the year as a whole, and FACC is aiming for a tripling of the operating result excluding one-off effects (EBIT) compared to the previous year.
