Austria's largest amusement park is turning 55 and the popular Rattenmühle roller coaster is turning 10. This double anniversary will be celebrated with a big festival from June 8th to 11th, 2023.

Visitors can look forward to a colorful entertainment program over four days with daily changing highlights such as the Dog Dance Show with Lukas & Falco, known from "Das Supertalent", and the entertaining OKIDOKI Party with Christoph Hirschler. The well-known and popular rat Rolf Rüdiger from the children's program of the ORF will pay tribute to the Rattenmühle and, together with presenter Robert Steiner, will delight guests of all ages. In addition, there will be a big mascot meeting, where childhood idols such as Maya the Bee & Willi, Heidi, Vicky, ABC Bear and Kurt the Cat can be found as a walking act in the park. Park mascot Filippo and Greta, the rat from the rat mill, are of course out and about in the park every day. Funny stilt walkers, face painting, caricature artists and a handicraft station provide even more fun and variety.

On Saturday, June 10th, you can also book the "Eat & Meet", a three-course dinner at Filippos Restaurant. Here you can meet Filippo and his friends again in a very exclusive way. Hannes Koch, two-time Vice State Champion in close-up magic, will provide additional entertainment. A special treat so that visitors have more time to enjoy the diverse programme: the park is open an hour longer, namely from 10 a.m. to 19 p.m.!

55 years of Family Park & 10 years of Rat Mill

On the occasion of the double birthday, a brief look back at the development of the park: The park was opened in 1968 by stonemason Erwin Müller at its current location as a small fairytale forest. The fairytale figures that he designed himself can still be seen in the park in the fairytale forest theme world. Over the years, numerous animal enclosures have been added and the forest has developed into a popular destination for visitors from the surrounding federal states. In 1984, Mario Müller took over the business from his father and, with the support of EU and state subsidies, expanded it into an amusement park that met international standards. Thus, the park has become one of the largest tourist destinations in the country. In 2019 the Familypark was sold to the French operator Compagnie des Alpes. Since then, the new owner has used his decades of experience and expertise in the amusement park industry to further invest in expanding the infrastructure and offerings at the popular park. For example, the newest attraction, the "Biberburg" whitewater ride, which, with an area of 5000 m² and a descent from a height of 17 meters, is the largest of its kind in Austria (investment volume 9,5 million euros).
