Friedrichshafen Airport signed a sale and rental agreement for properties that currently still belong to the airport. The creditors' meeting has already given the necessary approval.
On July 23, 2021, LZ Horizon GmbH & Co. KG, a newly formed subsidiary of Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH and the Bodenseekreis district, signed the sales and lease agreement for the airport property with Flughafen Friedrichshafen GmbH. With the completion of the property purchase agreement, LZ Horizon will become the owner of all FFG properties. At the same time, Flughafen Friedrichshafen GmbH signed a long-term rental agreement for the airport property. The terms of both agreements are in line with the market and the lease is sustainable for the airport. The airport company remains fully responsible for all maintenance and repairs to properties and buildings. The necessary permits for the participation of the district are expected soon.
With the acceptance of the bankruptcy plan, the airport will be fully discharged. By selling the airport property and letting it back, the airport can make its own contribution to the financing required under state aid law. With the approved grants from the public shareholders, the contributions from the private shareholders, the sale and leasing back of the land, the debt relief through the insolvency proceedings and the relief from air traffic control costs, the airport looks to the future with confidence.
