The summer holidays start today in the Austrian federal states of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. Vienna International Airport expects the number of passengers to rise sharply.

The airport recommends that travelers inform themselves in good time about the current entry regulations for the destination country and allow more time for departure and arrival. In many countries, document checks are carried out upon entry and these can take some time.

In Terminal 3, which is currently used as the central departure area, all catering and shopping facilities are open and invite passengers to linger. The traditional brand Manner recently opened in Terminal 3 and the German superfood franchise chain Dean & David in the arrivals hall. With the “Covid Care Premium Services”, Vienna Airport staff supports passengers with all travel modalities for departure, transfer and arrival. COVID tests can also be carried out directly at the airport. In any case, Vienna Airport recommends travelers to find out about the entry and return entry regulations and the necessary documents, as well as plan more time at the airport for departure and arrival. Information is provided by tour operators, airlines and tourist offices. According to the current COVID-19 Opening Ordinance, mouth and nose protection is also permitted at Vienna Airport from today, July 1, 2021, the 3G rule applies in restaurants, lounges and the visitor world and the distance rule does not apply.

“With the start of the holiday season, we are currently seeing rising passenger numbers again and we are pleased that tourist traffic is finally increasing again. With the currently relaxed travel regulations, air travel is finally easier again, numerous holiday destinations are easily accessible without quarantine requirements. In any case, it is recommended to find out about the exact travel regulations in advance and to plan a little more time for departure and arrival. All restaurants and shops in Terminal 3 are open and we are constantly adding new restaurants and take-away services. So nothing stands in the way of a relaxed vacation trip, ”explains Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.

All departures currently take place centrally in Terminal 3 and all dining and shopping facilities are open here.
