In the last few days, the Graz long-distance bus connection to Vienna-Schwechat Airport could not be booked from November 10, 2022. operator Dr. Richard explains that the route will continue without interruption and that tickets will soon be available again via Flixbus.

In contrast to the Südburgenland long-distance bus line G1, which is integrated into the Verkehrsverbund Ostregion, routes 96 (Graz-Vienna) and X96 (Graz-Vienna Airport) not included in the Austrian climate ticket. For some time now there have also been non-transfer Railjet trains between the provincial capital of Styria and Austria's largest airport. These can be used with the climate ticket, which is valid throughout Austria.

When asked whether the Railjet trains between Graz and Vienna Airport in connection with the climate ticket would have a negative impact on the number of passengers on the Dr. Richard's long-distance bus route X96, a spokeswoman replied: "In the meantime, demand has largely reached the level of 2019, from which we conclude that the climate ticket will not have a major effect on passenger numbers. The travel time, which is twenty minutes shorter than by rail, and the low tariffs are obviously still good arguments for the X96”.

With regard to the continuation and the fact that at times no tickets could be purchased from the sales partner Flixbus from November 10, 2022, the media officer explains as follows: “Line X96 will not be discontinued. Flixbus trips will soon be bookable again. The timetable remains unchanged with nine course pairs every two hours a day".
