The corona pandemic forced Fiji Airways' long-haul fleet to hit the ground for a long time. The carrier is now announcing the comeback on December 1, 2021. However, only people who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will be transported.
Initially, the destinations Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Port au Prince, Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo-Narita are to be reactivated. The Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 737 Max aircraft are used in the direction of Australia. Fiji Airways plans to deliver A330 and A350 to the United States.
“It was a long way for us to wait with the border closed. And of course, as a small national airline, it put a lot of pressure on us that our revenue dropped to zero overnight in April 2020. I cannot tell you the excitement and euphoria that our company and our country have over the fact that we are about to open up. We work around the clock to ensure that we are optimally equipped for this, ”explains company boss André Viljoen to CH-Aviation.com.
