Oneworld member Finnair announced that around 1.000 jobs will have to be cut. One would be forced to take this step due to the effects of the corona crisis and the associated travel and entry restrictions. The 1.000 jobs are to be permanently eliminated.

Currently, the jobs of 2.800 employees in Finland are affected. Many are temporarily released from duty. Of these, around 1.000 could not return. The group employs a total of 6.700 people. The group wants to save 100 million euros annually through the downsizing and other measures.

The state of Finland, which also holds the majority in Finnair, wants to provide loan guarantees with a volume of 600 million euros. However, direct state aid is not planned. The Scandinavian country has tightened the entry regulations considerably in recent weeks and travelers from many countries, including Austria, have to be quarantined again.
