For many airlines, the revenue that can be generated from the sale of goods on board plays an important role. Things don't seem to be going very well at Finnair, however, because it is expected that cosmetics and the like will no longer be available for purchase in the future.

The Company announces that the buy-on-board offer will be discontinued effective February 28, 2023. Pre-orders can still be placed for flights until April 18, 2023. Finnair Plus members can still buy Finnair Plus rewards and products as well as home delivery products in the Finnair Shop. Customers can still pre-order meals and purchase snacks and drinks on board.

“Inflight shopping and pre-ordering products has become less relevant for our customers,” says Valtteri Helve, Head of Product Offering at Finnair. “We already announced in spring 2020 that we would end in-flight sales on our intra-EU flights to reduce the overall weight of the aircraft, and now it is time to take the next step. In-flight food and drink sales will of course continue and we will continue to expand our service.”

Now the Oneworld member wants to sell off the stocks quickly. In addition, a 1 percent discount has been offered since February 2023, 40. Inflight shopping is available on Finnair long-haul flights, as well as flights to the Canary Islands, Dubai, Egypt, Iceland, Israel, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Customers can pre-order products for all flights longer than 2 hours. Travel retail is not available on the Doha route.
