Flight attendants who lost their jobs in the course of the transition from Alitalia to ITA Airways carried out a flash mob in Rome on Wednesday. The women took off their uniforms and shouted, holding hands in Italian, “we are Alitalia”.
The successor ITA Airways started flight operations on October 15, 2021. Many Alitalia employees have not been taken on and have lost their jobs. Although the new company acquired the trademark rights at short notice, it should not be regarded as an official Alitalia successor. This is a requirement of the EU Commission.
Unions criticize that only about 3.000 Alitalia employees at ITA Airways got a new job. The wage conditions should also be significantly below those that were paid for the predecessor. Some flight attendants organized a flash mob in Rome, in which symbolically everything was removed except for the underwear.
