The second largest airline operating at Vienna-Schwechat Airport, Lauda Europe, is also launching a vaccination campaign for flight personnel. According to the cover letter sent to the employees, this is carried out in cooperation with the State of Lower Austria and Flughafen Wien AG.
A vaccination line has now been set up in the Handling Center West, which is operated under the supervision of the Province of Lower Austria. This is not intended exclusively for Lauda Europe and / or Austrian Airlines, but for all companies operating at the airport. The order that results from the national phase III vaccination plan continues to apply. In the case of transport companies or modes of transport, this initially provides that people with direct customer contact and / or increased international travel that cannot be avoided for professional reasons are first in line. All other employees have their turn at a later point in time as part of the company vaccinations, which are carried out under the supervision of the respective federal state.
The flying Lauda Europe personnel can register for the vaccination campaign through the personnel department by May 12, 2021. The usual information must be transmitted. Then the dates for the vaccinations are allocated. The cover letter does not reveal which vaccine is used. The vaccine is allocated by the state of Lower Austria anyway, so Vienna Airport and / or Lauda Europe have no influence on it.
Similar campaigns are also being carried out at sister company Buzz, which has three Boeing 737-800s in Vienna, and at competitor Wizz Air. What all airlines have in common: The infrastructure that was set up as part of the operational vaccinations in the Handling Center West is used. Participation in the vaccinations is - also at Lauda Europe - voluntary.
