In July 2020, 36 airlines will be offering connections to around 100 destinations in 40 countries from Berlin's Schönefeld and Tegel airports. In the last few days, the operator has seen a "surge" in the number of travelers.

“As of today, air traffic from Berlin will pick up again significantly. Most airlines are back with a wide selection of European vacation destinations and regular scheduled flights. Holidays, business trips and visiting friends and family are now possible again on a large scale and tourism in the capital region is picking up speed again. Up to 30.000 passengers will travel to and from Schönefeld and Tegel every day in July. The airports thus make a major contribution to the economy and tourism in the capital region ”, says airport boss Engelbert Lütke Daldrup.

Easyjet starts in Berlin with nine aircraft

On Wednesday, the largest provider at Berlin-Tegel Airport, Easyjet, began increasing its offer again. According to the company, 39 routes are initially offered. About 75 percent of the original route network is to be reactivated by August. The airline plans to take off with up to five planes in Schönefeld and up to four planes from Tegel. This means that 39 routes will be flown in the first half of July. This is expected to increase to around 50 routes over the course of the summer.

“We are looking forward to finally being able to get started again. Our destinations will initially be in high demand for tourism: for example Greek islands, Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy as well as the Balearic / Canary Islands and mainland Spain. City destinations such as Paris, Amsterdam, Basel, London, Copenhagen and others are gradually being added. We recommend all guests to use our booking platform at www.easyJet.com to find out about the selection of destinations for fascinating travel destinations in Europe and the current processes on board, ”says Easyjet Germany Manager Stephan Erler.

Airport boss Daldrup explains about the restart of the largest customer: “We are pleased that our largest customer is back in Schönefeld and Tegel with almost 40 connections. With this wide range of services, the airline is again better connecting the capital region with Europe. Important European metropolises can be reliably reached again; the popular holiday regions of Europe are being served again. That is important and good for the airport location, the economy and tourism in the region. "

Other airlines are also gradually resuming their traffic: Qatar is again flying to Doha three times a week, thus directly connecting the Asian region. Ryanair has been gradually ramping up its flight operations again since June 21. From July, 50 connections will be flown to and from Schönefeld and Tegel. Airlines such as Condor, SunExpress and Wizz Air are starting the summer season with numerous destinations. In addition, more routes are being offered again in scheduled services and frequencies are being increased. Lufthansa is again flying several times a day from Berlin-Tegel to Frankfurt and Munich. Airlines such as Air France, KLM, British Airways or Brussels Airlines, for example, also fly their respective routes to Paris, Amsterdam, London and Brussels every day or several times a day.
