In the first seven months of the current year, Banja Luka Airport was able to handle more passengers than ever before. The small airport, which is located near the capital of the Republic of Srpska (Bosnia-Herzegovina), counted 171.214 travelers.
Banja Luka is served by the airlines Wizz Air, Ryanair, Air Montenegro and Air Serbia. Charter flights include Air Cairo and Freebird. The daily volume of flights is kept within tight limits, so that no more than two bus gates are required. In general, the offer behind the security and passport control is rather spartan and limited to seating and toilets.
In July 2022, Banja Luka Airport set a new monthly record with 44.637 passengers. In a direct comparison with the same period last year, sales increased by 881 percent in the first seven months. However, the growth may come at a price, as the Republic of Srpska has been giving out subsidies for many years to have international flights out of Banja Luka.
