The permanent dispute between the Carinthian investment management and Lilihill around Klagenfurt Airport comes to an abrupt end: the ten-point plan for the airport is accepted by the majority owner, Lilihill.
The ten points included both Lilihill's withdrawal of the lease of 130 hectares and the KBV's simultaneous granting of corresponding building rights contracts to the majority owner. The call option, which can still be pulled as a ripcord, also remains untouched. Lilihill's commitment to ensure that there will be a connection to another international hub that can be booked in 2022 and flown to in 2023 is also important. For this, the majority owner takes a lot of money into his own hands. In the next few weeks, the necessary contracts are to be drawn up, fixed and signed.
"You can actually speak of a great success, we as a public authority have prevailed in all ten points," said the responsible political officer, Martin Gruber (ÖVP). The majority owner has fulfilled his "obligation to bring" with his consent. In the end, the key points were that the majority owner would withdraw the unpopular leases. In addition, no space may be sold at the airport and the call option will also remain “in full”. This means that the country can take the airport back into public hands if there are fewer than 100.000 passengers a year.
